The European Wooden Surfboard Meet 2025 comes to Scotland for the first here at Lost Shore. A gathering of some of the world’s leading makers and experts in wooden surfboards and crafts. Come and join us for a series of exhibitions, workshops, screenings talks, surf sessions and demos. There will be lots of free drop-in activities as well as paid for events for those who wish to delve a little deeper. Most of all, this is a social weekend for those who are curious to learn more and share skills. Whether you know nothing about wooden surfboards or are a certified expert we hope to see you here!

Friday 3 October
Industry & Makers Evening
5pm – 9pm (free to attend, booking essential)
This makers-only evening will include a Lost Shore tour and networking opportunities to share ideas, concepts and inspire others to make surfboards more sustainably. Do you make surfboards and are interested in joining? Pre-registration is required. You don’t need to make wooden surfboards, you just need to have the willingness to make boards more sustainably!

Saturday 4 October
Wooden Surfboard Exhibition
9am – 11pm (free to attend, drop-in)

Come and see a collection of amazing wooden surfcrafts and the inspiring stories behind them in our Event Studio. Access will be restricted during ticketed events.
Wooden Hour: Wood Surfcraft Only Sessions
11am – 12pm (£50, pre-booking recommended)
The Cove
Join a unique surfing session to celebrate wood! Longboards, shortboards, bellyboards, handplanes, alaias… Choose your stick and share the stoke! You don’t have one? Don’t worry, we will have some wooden surfcraft available for the session included in the price. It will be organised in our Turns setting, so an intermediate level of surfing is required to participate.
We are also offering a film screening and Wooden Hour package for a discounted price of £50 on Saturday (screening at 7pm)

Living Wood: Flamenco & Surf Connection
2pm – 3.30pm (free to attend but booking required)
Event Studio
Living Wood is a flamenco experience presented by TuFlamenco at Lost Shore, celebrating the connection between wood, rhythm and expression. Through a live performance and interactive workshop, audiences will discover how flamenco brings wood to life — in the dance floor, the cajón, the guitar, and the hands of those who keep the rhythm alive. A joyful, creative event for all ages and backgrounds.

Alaia Shaping Experience
4pm – 7pm (free to attend, drop-in)
Plaza
Be part of a collaborative process to create the original Hawaiian surfboard, the Alaia. Made from a simple plank of wood, pop by and an experienced shaper will guide you to help shape it. No previous experience or skills required. Will take place in the shaping room in adverse weather conditions.
Evening Film & Talk: Surf & Sustainability
7pm – 9pm (£10, pre-booking required)
Event Studio
Surfing has been part of ancient cultures since immemorial times, always deeply rooted in the relationship between humans, the sea, and the material used to harness the waves – wood. Learn about sustainability in surfing and its history from the the experts; wooden surfboard shapers and surfers, who have looked back to move forward, developing more sustainable alternatives for enjoying surfing in a more responsible way. The screening will include a Q&A.

Art on Wood
10am – 11.30am (£35, booking required)
Event Studio
An artist will create a mural on wood during the weekend in the Event Studio, capturing the essence and the spirit of the event. You can be part of this experience and create your very own painting on a small surfboard shaped wooden canvas to take home. Ideal for art enthusiasts and families with the guidance of a local based artist.
One ticket is valid for one adult or one adult and a child.

From Tree to Surf: Alaia Surfing Showcase

Have you ever seen a traditional Hawaiian surfboard in the water? Come and watch one of the simplest ways to enjoy the waves. We’ll close the event with a group photo on Lost Shore’s beachfront, including all the wooden surfcrafts and mural.
