Surfing

In a lesson, an instructor will guide you in a safe and fun manner from the beginner waves to improver waves and beyond. In a session you surf independently like you would in the ocean.

Yes, we have heated and accessible indoor changing rooms with lockers, showers and hair dryers located in our changing area.

Yes, we will have fully qualified lifeguards on duty when the Cove is operational. Our surf instructors and coaches are also qualified in all aspects of water safety.

Yes, you need to be able to swim at least 25 metres unaided. We strongly recommend that all participants taking part in an activity must be water confident too.

6 – Children under the age of 6 years old will not be permitted in the Cove.

We will provide you with high quality 5/4mm wetsuits, boots, gloves, a hood and a surfboard as a part of your lesson or session. You are more than welcome to bring your own if you would like to.

No, we welcome all levels of surfers even those that have never surfed before! Our ISA qualified instructors will help you learn and progress and will ensure that you have a lot of fun doing so.

The number of surfers in a lesson will be a maximum of 8 surfers per instructor. The number of surfers in a session will vary depending on the session. We will always ensure that we are providing a safe, fun and pressure free experience.

We have a range of softboards that are free to use and a variety of higher performance boards that are available to rent

  • Our Beginner lessons will always be on our Indio softboards.
  • For Improver lessons we recommended using our softboards, but you can use your own softboard if it is approved by our surf coaches.
  • In our sessions you can use your own board, rent from us, or use our free softboards (however these are not recommended on Manoeuvres, Barrels, or High Performance sessions). 

We are not blessed with consistently warm water in Scotland but we have carefully picked the best 5/4mm wetsuits, boots, gloves and hoods to ensure your warmth and comfort.

The depth ranges 0.5 to 1.2 metres in the bay and 1 to 2.5 metres on the reef.

Absolutely! We welcome anybody who wants come and enjoy our café bar and restaurant and watch the surfers in the Cove.

Yes, absolutely! We advise booking in advance but surf walk-ins are welcomed subject to availability.

Accessibility

Yes, the main resort and Cove area, including our café , bar, restaurant, toilets and changing areas, have been designed to be fully accessible. We also have accessible Waterfront Lodges.

Our Waterfront Lodges, the Kurvs, are designed to comfortably sleep up to 6 people and have been specifically designed to be wheelchair accessible.

Food & Drink

Yes, we have a bar, café and restaurant overlooking the Cove. You can find more in the Eat section of the website. 
We have takeaway options available from all kitchens and the café. Please note we are a cashless site.

We do have space for walk-ins but reservations are suggested – please visit our Eat page to book online. For bookings over 16 people please email: info@lostshore.com

Allergen information is available upon request, please inform your server when you place your order.

Once seated, you can order by scanning the QR code at your table. Our staff will bring your drinks and dishes to you. Or you can pop up to the bar and order in person! Please note we are a cashless site.

Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in Canteen. We do have dog-free areas should you wish to be seated at or book a table there.
Well behaved dogs are also welcome to stay in our Hilltop Lodges for a £35 charge per dog per stay. We allow a max of two dogs per Lodge. We provide a water bowl, a dog bed and dog treats. 

Whilst we do not offer room service, guests staying onsite are welcome to visit the restaurant and order takeaway to enjoy from their accommodation.

Visitors are not permitted to consume their own food into the restaurant or the adjoining outdoor seating. However, you are welcome to eat your own food in the outdoor spaces across site.

Lost Shore is a cashless site so we accept only card and contactless payments.

Accommodation

We have 22 Waterfront Pods & Lodges overlooking the Cove and 31 luxury Hilltop Lodges with incredible views of the Cove, our extensive grounds and the hills beyond.

Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay in our Hilltop Lodges for a £35 charge per dog per stay. We allow a max of two dogs per Lodge. We provide a water bowl, a dog bed and dog treats. Please note, dogs are not permitted in our Waterfront Lodges or Pods.

Dogs are permitted on a lead within the grounds apart from inside the changing areas, with the exception of registered guide or support dogs. Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in Canteen. We do have dog-free areas should you wish to be seated at or book a table there.

All of our Waterfront Lodges and Hilltop Lodges have fully fitted kitchens. Our Waterfront Pods have fridges and coffee machines.

Just bring your luggage, and remember your swimwear and towel if you’re planning to surf. We provide linens and towels in your accommodation, plus a few bits to get you started such as tea, coffee, and shower products.
