What are the Water Safety Sessions?
These are free, in-school sessions delivered by our qualified surf instructors. The sessions help pupils understand how to enjoy water safely.
Who delivers the sessions?
Our sessions are led by members of Lost Shore’s experienced surf operations team. All staff are PVG-checked, fully trained, and experienced in working with young people.
Who are the sessions for?
They’re suitable for Primary 5-7 and S1-S6 pupils and can be adapted for different ages or learning needs.
How long does each session last?
Each session lasts around 20-25 minutes and can fit easily into an assembly slot or classroom period.
How many pupils can take part?
We can deliver sessions to large assemblies or smaller classroom groups, whichever works best for your school.
What’s covered in the session?
• What it’s like to be a surf instructor or lifeguard
• Key water safety messages
• How to recognise hazards and what to do in an emergency
• How pupils can stay safe and enjoy the water responsibly
• Interactive, fun and engaging activities
Does it link to the Curriculum for Excellence?
Yes. The sessions support Health and Wellbeing outcomes within the Curriculum for Excellence, including personal safety, confidence, and physical wellbeing.
Is there any cost to the school?
No, the sessions are completely free of charge as part of Lost Shore’s community education programme.
When are the sessions available?
Between 28th January and 13th February 2026. Bookings are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Where do the sessions take place?
We’ll come to your school – all we need is a hall, gym, or classroom space and access to a screen/projector if available.
How do we book?
Simply email eventsandgroups@lostshore.com with your preferred dates and a brief note about the age group(s) you’d like to include. We’ll get back to confirm a time that suits you.
Can we visit Lost Shore too?
Yes! Schools often combine a classroom session with a future visit to Lost Shore for our surf, STEM, or wellbeing workshops, click here to have a look at our brochure for more info.
